Europe’s Nuclear Industry to Gather in Paris

15% Discount Off Annual Subscription to Nucleonics Week

With 90 reactors planned and 200 proposed worldwide, the nuclear renaissance is very much in full swing. Rising gas prices and emissions constraints on coal very much part the European energy landscape; nuclear power and its role within the energy mix is very much back on the agenda.

The argument for nuclear power expansion is compelling. Many studies indicate, despite internalising waste management and decommissioning costs, nuclear power remains as cost competitive with fossil fuel sources. Furthermore, its ability to create sustained, stable and clean power reinforces its attractiveness as a potential leading power source.

If this resurgence is to be sustained, many industry challenges still remain and need to be tackled. Issues surrounding public acceptance, skills shortages and the on going debate as to the potential role of state loan guarantees in financing nuclear new build especially within these difficult economic times remain at the forefront.

Platts 4th Annual European Nuclear Power conference will continue to bring together the organisations that are leading and those that are supporting the European nuclear renaissance. This conference will provide attendees with a comprehensive outlook of the European nuclear power market; highlighting opportunities and debating the challenges faced.

Areas discussed:

  • Sustaining the nuclear renaissance from those leading the charge
  • Tackling the challenges faced: Finance, public acceptance and skill shortages
  • The changing regulatory framework and its impact on European nuclear deployment
  • Is nuclear power an attractive investment?
  • Cost competitiveness of nuclear power
  • Developing a comprehensive supply chain infrastructure
