2005 Global Energy Leaders

On behalf of the 60,000 men and women of Capgemini around the world, I would like to extend congratulations to all winners of the 2005 Platts Global Energy Awards.

For the third year in a row, Capgemini is proud to sponsor—along with BusinessWeek, J.D. Power and Associates, and Pace Global Energy Services—awards that recognize leaders and innovators who define, and in some cases redefine, excellence in their fields.

We are also pleased to welcome HP and Intel as technology cosponsors from the ranks of Capgemini's ecosystem of partners who are committed to providing transformation services delivered through the Collaborative Business Experience in order to create service-oriented enterprises for tomorrow's energy industry.

Each year, Platts receives nearly 200 nominations from dozens of countries around the world and from every sector of the energy industry. From this broad list of nominees, finalists are selected in each category based on their ability to meet the criteria for each award.

Each recipient of a Platts Global Energy Award is to be commended on surviving and thriving in these challenging times. You serve as an inspiration to everyone who believes the global energy industry has the power to change the world for the better by developing breakthrough technologies and innovative services that will transform the lives of billions of people on this planet.

We believe these sorts of awards to be important because, at Capgemini, we believe success is almost impossible without collaboration. The companies represented in the Global Energy Awards are those who embrace collaborative tools and techniques to drive better, faster, and more-sustainable results—whether in remote offshore operations or local customer retention programs. We salute them for their courage and innovation. Capgemini supports the energy industry through a variety of collaborative research programs, including:

• A global survey of more than 100 gas and electricity executives from more than a dozen countries in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

• Creation of the European Energy Markets Observatory (EEMO) that measures progress across 17 European countries twice a year.

• Participation as a founding board member of the Global Energy Management Institute at the University of Houston, whose programs serve the upstream, downstream, and power market sectors.

The Global Energy Awards have become like the "Oscars" or the "Golden Palm" of the energy industry. Each December, we have a chance to gather in New York City during the holiday season to renew old acquaintances and make new friends while celebrating the dynamism and diversity of the industry's best. Congratulations again to all the nominees, finalists, and winners of the 2005 Global Energy Awards. We are pleased to recognize your leadership and commitment to serving your employees, customers, business partners, and shareholders today and tomorrow.
