2006 Global Energy Leaders

On behalf of Capgemini and my thousands of colleagues across the world, I heartily congratulate the finalists of the 2006 Platts Global Energy Awards.

Now in its eighth year, the Platts Global Energy Awards program pays tribute to those companies and individuals who have done the most to define—and often redefine—excellence in their fields. For the fourth consecutive year, Capgemini is proud to be the principal sponsor of this event, and as the energy industry continues to transform itself through the use of technologies, we salute the people and companies leading the way.

To win a Platts Award is to join a very select group of leaders. Each year, Platts receives more than 200 nominations from dozens of countries around the world and from every sector of the energy industry. From this broad list of nominees, only those companies and individuals who are truly "best of the best"—those who are leading an industry that powers the world economy and fuels the hopes of a cleaner, brighter and safer future for all our children—make the final cut. Capgemini is proud to be a part of a program that recognizes their outstanding accomplishments.

Indeed, Capgemini supports the Global Energy Awards program because in many ways it reflects our way of thinking and our approach to doing business. In our view, collaboration is the ultimate key to success. That's why for each of our energy, power and chemicals clients, we work to build a collaborative business environment in which together we are able to capture the exponential power of cooperation. We suspect that this year's award winners could not have achieved their incredible accomplishments without a spirit of collaboration with their partners, consultants, vendors, and customers. We salute that spirit.

Capgemini is tremendously proud to support the Platts Global Energy Awards program, but our commitment to the energy industry does not stop there. We are committed to the growth and development of the energy industry through a variety of research and conference programs, including:

  • Research and analysis into European energy markets, culminating in the publication of the European Energy Markets Observatory.
  • Executive principal sponsorship of the 3rd Annual Platts M&A Conference this year.
  • Pulse surveys at industry events, including the Edison Electric Institute's International Utility and Financial conferences.
  • The first Platts/Capgemini Utility Executive Study, to be released at the end of 2006.
  • Founding board member of the Global Energy Management Institute at the University of Houston, with programs serving the upstream, downstream and power markets.

Given the energy industry's vital role in powering the international economy—and with it hopes for peace and prosperity for all people—we salute the energy industry executives and important stakeholders from government, academia and professional services who gather yearly in New York for the Platts Global Energy Awards' gala ceremony.

And again, congratulations to all nominees and winners of the 2006 Platts Global Energy Awards for their leadership and commitment to serving their employees, customers, business partners and shareholders.

Warmest Regards,

Colette Lewiner Global Sector Leader, Energy, Utilities and Chemicals Capgemini
