Matthew Boyle, Australia-Pacific editor for Platts International Coal group, joined Platts in Tokyo in 2001 to cover the Japanese and South Korean metals markets. He has since reported on metals and steel markets in London and global coking coal markets from his current home, Sydney, Australia. Boyle holds an honors bachelor's degree in economic geography from the University of Sydney, and is studying for his Masters of Applied Finance at Macquarie University.

Larry Chorn, responsible for energy forecasting and quantitative analysis activities, joined Platts in July 2006 from the Colorado School of Mines, where he was associate professor of petroleum engineering and director of the Center for Petroleum Supply Studies. He spent 25 years in the global oil and gas business, including serving as an independent valuation and risk consultant. He holds a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and an MBA in finance and strategy from Southern Methodist University.

Mark Davidson, editorial director for Platts' North American natural gas news, is based in Washington, D.C. He has served as chief editor of Gas Daily and managing editor of Inside FERC's Gas Market Report. A graduate of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University, Davidson was a general assignment and local government reporter for daily newspapers in Ohio and Virginia for nearly a decade before joining Platts in November 1995.

Neil Fleming is head of strategy for Platts, a role he combines with a career as a playwright. He is former vice president of Platts' information division, former editorial vice president, and former editor-in-chief of Platts' real-time oil news service. He has been United Press International's East Africa correspondent, South Africa bureau chief, and Platts Middle East correspondent. He holds a first class honors degree in modern languages from Cambridge University.

David Hanna is Platts' global director of petrochemicals and is based in Tokyo. He joined Platts in 1993 as a reporter covering the Asian oil and petrochemicals markets. He earned a master's degree in international relations from Yale University and a bachelor's degree in Asian studies from Cornell University. Hanna spent a year in China as an exchange student at the Beijing Foreign Studies Institute from 1985 to 1986.

David R. Jones is Platts' global renewable energy editor, based in London. An environmental journalist with 20 years experience, Jones edited newsletters on U.S. state and local government, medical waste management, oil pollution, and solid waste before joining Platts in 2001 to cover coal and energy policy.

John Kingston, Platts' global director of oil, manages a staff of almost 80 editors covering the world's oil industry. He has been with Platts nearly 20 years, including stints as managing editor of Platts Oilgram Price Report and editor-in-chief of Platts Oilgram News. Prior to joining Platts, Kingston worked for American Metal Market and for newspapers in New Jersey and Virginia. He is a graduate of Washington & Lee University.

Kathy Carolin Larsen, editorial director of Platts North American Electric Markets News, worked in daily and weekly newspapers in the Northeast and Great Plains, and covered oil and gas news in Washington, D.C. before joining McGraw-Hill. She leads reporters in six cities around the globe in producing news of the utility, independent power, and power marketing businesses.

Ross McCracken, editor of Energy Economist, joined Platts in 1999 to run the European and West African crude desk. He was previously an editor with an Oxford University-based political and economic consultancy, and has taught in Poland and China. He holds a master's degree in European studies from the London School of Economics and his undergraduate degree from the University of East Anglia.

Linda Rafield, Platts' senior analyst, reports on U.S. futures markets and is responsible for Platts Futures & Derivatives Review. She spent 13 years at COMEX as an arbitrage clerk, floor broker and independent floor trader, and ran the Deutsche Bank gold book for six years. She majored in international politics at Columbia University and holds a post-graduate certificate in risk management from New York University.

Margaret L. Ryan, a 25-year veteran of McGraw-Hill energy reporting, is editorial director of Platts Global Nuclear & Coal, directing 20 professionals worldwide. Active in the American News Women's Club and the National Press Club, she previously worked for weekly and daily newspapers. She holds a BA in history from the University of Pennsylvania and an MA in communications from American University.

Alessandro Vitelli, managing editor for global emissions markets, is responsible for Emissions Daily. He worked on Platts' oil and petrochemicals' desks, beginning in 1988, including a stint as director of petrochemicals, and has been a broker with PVM Associates. He holds a bachelor's degree in politics and French from the University of Reading, and studied at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Paris.

Jenny Weil, managing editor for Platts Nuclear group, covers legislative, regulatory and business news impacting the U.S. commercial nuclear power industry. She has worked nine years with the McGraw-Hill Companies, focusing most recently on the prospects for new plant construction in the U.S. She holds a BA in journalism from the University of Maryland and worked at local newspapers and business publications before coming to Platts.
