China National Coal Group's 2012 coal output rises 7.3% to 176 mil mt

China National Coal Group mined 176 million mt of coal in 2012, up 7.3% year on year, according to data released Tuesday on the China National Coal Association website.

The company's coal sales, meanwhile, rose 9.5% year on year to 177 million mt in 2012. At the end of December 2012, it held 2.65 million mt of coal stocks, down 19.9% year on year, according to the data.

China National Coal Group was the second largest coal miner in China in 2011, with output of 164 million mt, after Shenhua Group which produced 407 million mt of coal that year. Shenhua has yet to release its coal output figures for 2012.
