Real-time power prices remained well above $100/MWh in the US Northeast Monday as cold temperatures continued to grip the region. Day-ahead prices, however, showed some softening as spot natural gas traded lower on the IntercontinentalExchange ahead of forecasted warmer temperatures for later in the week. At 10:45 a.m. EST, the real-time price for Mass Hub power was $185.04/MWh, down from $237.13/MWh at 6:30 a.m. EST. Meantime, Algonquin city-gates spot natural gas was trading around $17.25/MMBtu on ICE, down about $11.75, while natural gas at Tennessee zone 6-200 leg was trading around $16.02/MMBtu, a drop of about $8.30. High temperatures across New England and New York state were expected to mostly range from the lower 20s to lower 30s on Monday and Tuesday before warming about 10 degrees on Wednesday. At 10:45 a.m. EST, the real-time price for NYISO Zone-G (Hudson Valley) power was $148.01/MWh. Zone-G day-ahead on-peak for Tuesday delivery was trading around $142.75/MWh, down about $15 from the Platts assessed price for Monday delivery.
