A total of 59% of Portuguese power consumption was via non-regulated tariffs at the end of November, with close to 83,000 electricity customers moving over from the regulated market in the month, state energy watchdog ERSE said Wednesday. The number of clients that have switched represents a 9.6% increase from October and is part of an accelerating trend that began at the beginning of the year, the regulator said on its website. ERSE added that almost 880,000 power users are now out of the regulated market and account for an annualized yearly consumption of 29.29 TWh. The largest operator in the liberalized market was Portugal's EdP Comercial, with a 41.2% share, followed by Spain's Endesa, with 23.5%. Other players in the liberalized market include Spain's Iberdrola and Gas Natural Fenosa and Portugal's Fortia and Galp Energia.--Henry Cybulski, newsdesk@platts.com --Edited by Jonathan Fox, jonathan_fox@platts.com
