China's annual electricity consumption in 2012 to rise 6% on year: SERC

China is expected to consume a total of 5 trillion kWh of electricity in the whole year 2012, up about 6% year on year, according to a release by the State Electricity Regulatory Commission Wednesday.

Over January-October, China consumed 4,088.1 billion kWh of electricity, up 4.9% year on year, according to the release. The January-October total annualizes at 4.906 trillion kWh for 2012.

In comparison, China consumed 4.690 trillion kWh of electricity in 2011, up 11.7% year on year, Platts reported earlier.
