Nuclear Power Delivery UK, the team established by Westinghouse to supply the AP1000 reactor to UK customers, has signed confidential memorandums of understanding with BAE Systems, Doosan Power Systems and Rolls Royce, the company announced Wednesday. The agreements build on earlier MOUs dating back to 2008, which had since expired. The specific contents of each MOU are confidential, Westinghouse said, "but in broad terms the agreements collectively address scope to support the already broad footprint of Nuclear Power Delivery UK in the UK." Areas for further development under the MOUs include manufacturing and components, supply chain and logistics, and engineering support, Westinghouse said. Nuclear Power Delivery UK is a team comprising Westinghouse, the Shaw Group, Laing O'Rourke and Toshiba. In a separate statement, Rolls Royce said it would help Nuclear Power Delivery UK in the development of proposals for engineering, manufacture and supply of mission critical components for the heart of the nuclear reactor. Rolls-Royce will also explore the provision of nuclear engineering, technical support and supply chain management expertise to the consortium, Rolls Royce said.--David Stellfox; david_stellfox@platts.comSimilar stories appear in Nucleonics Week.
