The power interconnector between the UK and the Netherlands will increase flows to 515 MW on Monday, or a little over half its capacity, the cable operator said Friday. BritNed is undergoing final tests in February and March, before full commissioning in April. It will become the second power link between the UK and the European mainland, with a total transfer capacity of 1,000 MW. BritNed said Friday 463.5 MW of power will flow from the Netherlands to the UK between 2015 GMT and 2115 GMT on Monday, with flows increasing to 515 MW between 2115 GMT on Monday and 0015 GMT on Tuesday. Although the volumes of power transferred are starting to become sizeable, and may impact wholesale power prices at each end of the cable, the timing in the evening means it will minimize disturbances.
