London (Platts)--22Nov2012/642 am EST/1142 GMT
German year-ahead power prices Wednesday fell to a fresh two-year low, with core contract Cal 13 base closing at Eur46.50/MWh, 15 euro down on the day and at its lowest since April 2010, as year-ahead coal into Europe continued to slide and December 2012 EUAs remained weak, sources said. On the prompt, prices in Central West Europe were relatively stable with temperatures holding just above average levels for the coming days. Day-ahead baseload closed at Eur50/MWh in Germany and Eur52/MWh in France, respectively unchanged and 60 euro cent higher day on day. Week-ahead prices meanwhile were bearish on expectations of warm weather in week 48, falling around Eur2 baseload to Eur49.10/MWh in Germany and Eur52/MWh in France. In the UK, day-ahead baseload was last heard at GBP48/MWh, up 25 pence day-on-day while peakload power rose GBP1 to GBP58/MWh, despite higher forecast wind generation for Thursday in a prompt market that sources described as lacking direction. On the UK curve, Summer 13 baseload last traded at GBP49.45/MWh to represent gains of 25 pence.
