American Vanadium has submitted the plan of operations for its Gibellini vanadium mine project in Nevada to the US Bureau of Land Management, the company said Monday.

The plan of operations details the plan for the Gibellini project from mine design, to processing facilities, to the reclamation and closure plan. It incorporates numerous product outputs for high-purity vanadium products for the titanium alloying industry as well as electrolyte for the vanadium flow battery market, the company said.

A 2011 feasibility study for the project, which would make American Vanadium the only primary vanadium mine in the US, indicated an average annual production of 11.4 million lb of vanadium pentoxide at an operating cost of $4.10/lb.

The filing of the plan of operations to the BLM also initiates, upon the agency's determination of completeness, the National Environmental Policy Act review process. The company has also submitted a reclamation plan to the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection.
