China's alumina production in October rose 12.5% year on year to 2.98 million mt, compared with 2.65 million mt a year ago, latest data released by the National Bureau of Statistics late Tuesday showed.

The figure was also a marginal 0.7% increase from the 2.96 million mt produced in September.

Output in the first 10 months totaled 31.7 million mt, which was up 9.7% from a year earlier.

The production of primary aluminum in October amounted to 1.72 million mt, up 21.9% year on year, and also up 3% from September. Output of aluminum in January-October went up 11.6% year on year to 16.4 million mt.

The output of aluminum products in October was 2.88 million mt, up 17% year on year, and also up 4% from September. Aluminum products output over January-October reached 24.8 million mt, up 9.7% from the same period in 2011.

China also produced 381,227 mt of aluminum alloy in October, up 9% from the year before, but down 2% from September.

Production over January-October totaled 3.66 million mt, up from 3.15 million mt a year earlier.
