China's Tianyu 2013 magnesium ingot output to triple to 45,000 mt

China's Tianyu Mineral Industrial Group aims to increase its magnesium
ingot output to about 45,000 mt in 2013, up from close to 15,000 mt produced
in 2012, a company official said Thursday.
"Last year, we produced close to our capacity of 15,000 mt. This year,
we can produce close to the newly increased capacity of 45,000 mt due to the
completion of the expansion at the end of last year," the official said.
Under this second phase of expansion, the company added 30,000 mt/year
of designed magnesium ingot capacity, which comprised of two production lines
with 15,000 mt/year capacity each.
The first production line started in 2003 with a capacity of 10,000
mt/year. That capacity was subsequently lifted to 15,000 mt/year through
upgrading works at the end of 2011.

The official said the company sells its output domestically and abroad.
"We do both domestic and export sales. The Chinese domestic market remains
our main focus due to the steady demand," the official said.
The company will continue to maintain a domestic to export sales ratio
of 7:3.
On top of magnesium ingot, the company also has a design capacity of
10,000 mt/year of magnesium alloy, 5,000 mt/year of magnesium alloy
extrusions, 5,000 mt/year of magnesium alloy diecasting parts and 60,000
mt/year of ferrosilicon.
