NYMEX March gas futures up 4.5 cents at midday Wednesday on colder forecasts

The NYMEX March natural gas futures contract was up 4.5 cents at $3.444/MMBtu at 12:38 p.m. EST (1738 GMT), as the market kept an eye on forecasts for colder weather.

"[The market is] moving back and forth on changing weather forecasts," TFS Energy Futures trader Gene McGillian said.

McGillian said colder temperatures in the forecast have attracted some "fresh technical buying."

"Right now the market is settling into the value range of $3.20-$3.50/[MMBtu]," he added.

The March contract has traded so far Wednesday between $3.398/MMBtu-$3.459/MMBtu.
