Tehran (Platts)--27Dec2011/445 am EST/945 GMT

Afghanistan has signed an agreement with Iran to buy 1 million mt/year of oil products starting 2012, the Iranian oil ministry's Shana news agency reported Tuesday.

The products will comprise gasoil (60%-70%), gasoline (25%-30%) and jet fuel (10%), and they will be sold at international market prices, according to the report.

The deal was inked late Monday by Afghanistan's Minister of Trade and Industries, Anwar ul Haq Ahadi, and Alireza Zayghami, managing director of the National Iranian Oil Products Refining and Distribution Company, in the presence of Iranian oil minister Rostam Ghasemi. Iran has been exporting 200,000 mt/year of oil products to Afghanistan since last year, according to the report.

It quoted Zayghami as saying that Afghanistan was willing to import even more oil products, especially gasoil. He said the company would look into the request and increase exports to Afghanistan if possible.
