Libya's NOC says Sirte Oil Company resumes LPG production at Brega

Dubai (Platts)--11Feb2013/848 am EST/1348 GMT

The Libyan National Oil Company said Monday that the Sirte Oil Company had shipped its first LPG cargo from the Brega terminal after resuming production that had been halted since the start of the Libyan rebellion in February 2011.

NOC said in a statement posted on its website that the Sirte Oil Company had produced more than 34,000 barrels of LPG since resuming production on December 31 and exported one cargo of 19,5000 barrels.

Libyan oil production was all but completely halted shortly after the start of the rebellion against Moammar Qadhafi two years ago. Oil output, which averaged 1.6 million-1.7 million b/d before the crisis, has returned to near normal levels but gas production has not been restored to full capacity.

The Sirte Oil Company, an NOC subsidiary, is involved in oil and gas production as well as refining and petrochemicals production.
