Paul Shellman has 25 years experience in managing commodity trading risk. He has managed complex derivative portfolios, run physical metal trading books, and developed a range of new products. He has an extensive understanding of markets which has allowed him to develop a consulting practice (Wainscott Commodities Inc.,) focused on price risk management and this has brought him to the forefront in the development of steel financial instruments.
Since 2000, Paul has provided advisory services to a range of companies involved in commodities. A partial list includes: advising the London Metal Exchange on new markets, and periods with PricewaterhouseCoopers Financial Risk Group, AIG Trading, CRU Group, and the internet trading platform CMXchange.
Prior to this period, he held senior positions at Koch Supply and Trading, AIDC Metals and the commodity arm of Goldman Sachs (J Aron). Paul started his financial career as a market maker in foreign exchange options. He has a B.A. degree in Economics and Business from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and presently resides in England with his family.
