Supply & Demand Realities

Demand for energy relentlessly expands, while fuel sources are inevitably derailed by politics, natural disasters or operational errors. Furthermore, Middle East unrest, forces the necessary question: How can we establish energy stability to soften the impact of another disruption in the global energy supply? This roundtable will explore the complexities of supply & demand and their implications in 2012 and beyond. Discussions will touch on:

  • Fossil Fuels, Natural Gas and Biofuels: Will oil prices remain high or natural gas lose its “cheap and abundant” appeal? How realistic are expectations that cleaner sources can have an impact on replacing oil supply?
  • Nuclear: Will public fear derail a renaissance or will the zero-emissions power source endure?
  • Renewables: Still facing intermittency, storage and scalability challenges, do renewables swell in the shadow of 2011’s disasters?

The Green Economy

Do global politics motivate a more efficient economy or create knee-jerk reactions? This roundtable will explore:

  • Environment vs. Economics: Can industry profit when consumers conserve?
  • End-Use Technologies: Hybrid, Electric and alternative fuel vehicles
  • Global Geopolitical Implications
  • What’s next for Smart Energy?
