US agriculture and biofuels industry groups Thursday praised President-elect Donald Trump's nomination of Sonny Perdue as secretary of agriculture, affirming his experience and commitment to farmers' interests. "The nomination of former Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue for Secretary of Agriculture is welcome news to the nation's farmers and ranchers," said Zippy Duvall, president of the American Farm Bureau Federation, in a statement.

US Environmental Protection Agency nominee Scott Pruitt tried to assure senators Wednesday that he would uphold the biofuel mandate and stick to annual volume increases if confirmed to lead the agency, distancing himself from his previous criticism of the policy as "unworkable."
