Paraxylene (PX) prices increased 2% in January, according to the just-released monthly average of the Platts Global Petrochemical Index (PGPI), a benchmark basket of seven widely used petrochemicals. The average price was $1,602 per metric ton (/mt), up $37 from the December average of $1,565/mt. Xylene price gains were driven by global supply constraints.
