US oil production picking at OPEC's problems

Herman Wang and Brian Scheid

The US isn't a part of OPEC, and no government officials attended the OPEC meeting in Vienna last week, but the US and its shale oil boom were still on people's minds at the conference and summit. Platts senior editors Herman Wang -- who was in Vienna -- and Brian Scheid recap the conference and analyze the proceedings to see what sort of an impact US oil production and export issues have on OPEC.

Bob McNally, an oil industry analyst and consultant, and Jamie Webster, an analyst with IHS, among others, speak about the resilience of US oil, intra-OPEC competition, the possibility of expanded US crude exports, and more from one of the most-watched regular events in the global oil landscape.

Check back every Monday for the latest analysis of US oil policy news from leading Platts editors covering the Capitol. E-mail the editors at brian.scheid@platts.com and herman.wang@platts.com.
