Booming US crude oil production has meant that Nigeria in particular has had to find new homes for its crude oil exports while Algerian and Angolan crude oil exports have also been impacted.
The African continent is also increasingly reliant on importing refined products to meet the needs of a rapidly growing population. However, investment in African refining is on the immediate horizon, but the challenges that new investment faces are discussed in some detail.
