Lackluster Turkish demand for petcoke, scrap maintains soft Supramax freight rates

Konstantinos Tsolakis, freight editor for the Atlantic Supramax market, discusses the impact low Turkish demand for petroleum coke and scrap metal has had this year so far on the freight cost of shipping both commodities to Turkey, with Aleksandrs Juhnevics, managing editor for West of Suez freight markets. With less shipping trade to Turkey, the impact this has had on the overall supply of ships in the Atlantic is also assessed.

The following Platts assessments were discussed in this podcast:
Price Date
Houston-to-Aliaga, Turkey, 50,000 mt petcoke $14.25/mt 05/05/2015
Rotterdam-to-Aliaga, 45,000 mt scrap $12/mt 05/05/2015
