Petrochemical expansions, exports dominate conversations at AFPM IPC

March 30, 2017 (7:26 mins)

It was another busy International Petrochemical Conference from the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers in San Antonio, and our editors and analysts share what they learned from various conversations about olefins, polymers, aromatics and intermediates. John Calton, managing editor for aromatics, solvents and intermediates, catches up with Justin Schneewind, Americas petrochemical editor, about hot topics for 2017.

Big topics at this year's AFPM IPC include growing ethylene and PE capacity along the US Gulf Coast; musings over plans for ethylene derivatives; possible future downward pressure on propylene prices; global softness hitting PVC exports; and the effects of exports and the upcoming driving season on toluene, xylene, benzene, styrene and MTBE.

We welcome any feedback or suggestions for topics. Contact us at webeditor@platts.com.
