Global players look for bullish notes as sugar crush continues in Brazil

The global sugar industry has faced a surplus for several years, and there may be more of the same ahead. Tim Worledge, editor in chief for Platts agriculture, and Claudiu Covrig, a senior agriculture analyst with Platts business unit Kingsman, chat about the recent New York Sugar Week, where Latin American production dominated talk, and take a look at the wider global sugar market.

Brazil is expected to have about 585 million tons of cane, which could add to the global surplus; Guatemala surprised the global markets with more available product on the prompt market; India's production continues to be difficult to pin down; and China and possibly unfavorable weather may lend a more bullish note to markets.
