Brazil sugar output expected to increase in 2016/2017 season

April 25, 2016 (5:04 mins)

In this podcast, Sophie Byron and Alessandra Rosete discuss the global sugar deficit that has supportedworld sugar prices. Despite total sugarcane crushed in Brazil over the 2016/2017 season not being expected to increase significantly, sugar production is likely to rise as a result of a higher sucrose content in the cane. Additionally, ethanol production is not forecast to be adversely impacted in Brazil by the higher sugar output.

The following Platts assessments were discussed in this podcast:
Price Date
Raw Sugar Brazil VHP CS Flat Price 15.53 cents/lb 04/22/2016
Ethanol FOB Santos Brazil Cargo $480/cu m 04/22/2016
