A provocative new book

Former Platts' senior writer Jim Norman has written a book spelling out a rather different view of why the price of oil is climbing.

I remember Jim sharing some of his theories to me on the relationship between high oil prices and US policy toward China as we drove to a speaking engagement in Connecticut a few years back. Jim always saw things in a different way than I did, and he backs them all up with solid reporting and researching.

Jim left Platts about a year ago, a big loss for us. But he still writes for us on occasion, and we wish him best of luck with The Oil Card.
