This year's survey: the top 10 of 2008

Once again, we want your views on what are the top 10 oil stories of 2008.

I think everyone can agree that this year was quite a year. It seems almost premature to put out the list on December 4. Who knows what might happen in a mere 4 weeks until 2009 arrives?

But we'll start the poll now, and end it on Christmas Eve. You can access it here.

The survey is unscientific, so feel free to send the link on to colleagues and friends. While we've spent quite a bit of time sorting through the news developments of 2008 to get down to this collection of stories, we've included a box where you can suggest items that you think were important but are not on our list. We'll publicize those, along with the results of the survey, after December 25.

The survey is basic: just check off number 1 for the story you think was most important, the number 2 column for the second-most important story, and so on, right up to 10.

The items on the list reset themselves every time they're accessed, so there's no "power of suggestion" in how they're displayed. The survey is set so that an individual computer can only access it once.

If you want to know the results of last year's survey, have a gander here. And thanks for participating.
