OECD July jet fuel demand rises estimated 4.8% on year: IEA

London (Platts)--13Sep2017/746 am EDT/1146 GMT

Demand for jet fuel and kerosene across all OECD countries rose by an estimated 4.8% in July, the International Energy Agency said in its latest monthly report Wednesday.

Leading the increases are Asia and Oceania, where demand rose an estimated 7.8% in July. The Americas followed with 5.2% estimated growth, while European demand rose 2.9%.

Individual country growth within this group showed Korea leading the pack, with jet and kerosene demand estimated to have grown by 10.4% to 0.16 million b/d. Japan is in second place at 9.6% growth, with Italy just behind at 8%.

Germany is the only country in the list expected to see a decline in demand, down 0.6% at 0.23 million b/d.

Demand strength in the US was down to a very positive second quarter, supported by "good economic growth, high employments, increasing traffic, freight transportation and industrial activity," the report said. The low oil price also aided demand numbers.
