A closer look at Platts jet fuel coverage

October NWE jet fuel arrivals tick closer to 2 million mt

London (Platts)--5Oct2017/951 am EDT/1351 GMT

Arrivals of jet fuel into Northwest Europe are ticking close to the 2 million mt mark, according to data from cFlow, S&P Global Platts trade flow software.

Fixtures reported so far total 1.832 million mt, according to Platts cFlow, with plenty of time left for more fixtures to be booked and arrive this month.

At the beginning of the month, one trader said he expected 2 million mt would arrive into Northwest Europe and the Mediterranean in October.

From mid-August to the beginning of September, a number of vessels left Northwest Europe to head across the Atlantic to replenish shorts resulting from the downing of US infrastructure over hurricane season.

Despite these movements, arrivals into Europe have remained high.

The Hafnia Adamello and the Seaways Alcmar both took jet fuel to the US from Europe in September, an historically unusual move.

The 73,000 dwt Evridiki loaded in Vadinar mid-September and was heading to New York Harbor but, on entering the Mediterranean, diverted towards Le Havre, France, where it was due to arrive Friday, according to cFlow.

Arrivals this year have averaged around 1.4 million mt, with some months barely scraping above 1 million mt, a contract to 2017 when monthly arrivals regularly reached above 2 million mt.
