A closer look at Platts jet fuel coverage

ARA Jet fuel, kerosene stocks down 3% on week: PJK

London (Platts)--15Dec2017/738 am EST/1238 GMT

Jet fuel and kerosene stocks in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp and Ghent trading hub fell 3.45% week ended Thursday, data from PJK International showed.

Jet fuel and kerosene levels fell to a 10-week low of 672,000 mt from 696,000 mt the previous week.

As the year draws to a close, market participants were reporting destocking across the region, both on a balance sheet and structural basis.

The paper market remained in a soft backwardation late Thursday, with the balance month CIF NWE cargo swap assessed at $41.75/mt versus the January swap at $39.75/mt. The backwardated structure over the second half of the year has discouraged most from taking unnecessary product in to tank to store.

Stocks were expected to build slightly into the New Year, with the structure softening. The front month/second month structure was assessed flat Thursday evening -- with high arrivals due to land over the remainder of December, sources said.
