NWE jet fuel barge premium falls to 2-month low as rising supplies hit market

London (Platts)--19Dec2017/738 am EST/1238 GMT

Rising supply has pushed FOB Rotterdam jet fuel barges to their lowest premium over the ICE low sulfur gasoil futures contract in two months, as well as a five-month low versus CIF NWE jet cargoes.

The FOB Rotterdam barge premium to ICE LSGO fell $3.25/mt on the day to $34.50/mt Monday, the lowest since October 23. Barges' discount to cargoes also dropped to $6/mt, the biggest discount since July 17.

Alongside lower seasonal demand, rising supply in the Rotterdam hub and surrounding ports -- with refinery maintenances coming to an end in Northwest Europe and December cargo arrivals bringing material to a recently dry market -- has put pressure on prices.

"We obviously spiked dramatically on Pernis and Flushing [refineries being] down and then another spike with Pernis being delayed [returning] so you could argue it's coming off to the levels before that spike and I would say there's more downside to come," one source said.
