Mark Quartermain, Vice President Crude Oil Trading & Supply, Shell

Mark Quartermain

Mark Quartermain is responsible for Shell’s global trading and supply activity across a suite of refined products from LPG to Fuel Oil, as well as Shell’s marketing and supply of Commercial and Marine fuels. Mark has worked for Shell since graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Exeter University in the UK in 1983. The majority of his career has been spent in various roles in crude oil and products trading, natural gas and power trading, risk management, and manufacturing. Mark is married with three children and two granddaughters. His interests include sports, writing, amateur theatre, bungee jumping and solar eclipse ‘chasing’.

Daniel P. Ahn, Deputy Chief Economist, U.S. Department Of State

Daniel P. Ahn

Dr. Daniel P. Ahn is the Deputy Chief Economist (a Deputy Assistant Secretary-level position) at the U.S. Department of State, where he leads on a wide range of international economic and security topics relevant to U.S. foreign policy, including global economic growth, financial stability, economic and financial sanctions, trade, and energy topics. He also represents the Department at numerous bilateral and multilateral fora on economic and security issues. He is also a Professorial Lecturer at Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, where he teaches graduate courses on energy economics, infrastructure and project finance, and the economics of conflict and national security. Before entering public service, Dr. Ahn was the chief economist for commodities at Citigroup in New York, and also held senior positions at Citadel, Barclays Capital, and Lehman Brothers. He has also held research and teaching positions at Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government, the National Bureau of Economic Research, Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the International Monetary Fund. He is the author of numerous academic research articles, testimony before U.S. Congress, and a forthcoming economics textbook. He was featured in Forbes Magazine as one of 30 under 30 in Finance. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He completed his A.B. in economics and finance with honors from Princeton University, and his Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University.

Jean-Jacques Mosconi, Senior Vice President Refining and Petrochemicals - Orient, Total Refining & Petrochemicals

Jean-Jacques Mosconi

Jean-Jacques Mosconi started his career in 1983 as a Research Manager in the Economic Research Department at French utility Electricité de France. He joined the Group’s Strategy Department in 1988 and in 1990 was appointed Operations Manager of the Donges refinery. In 1995, he was named CEO of Elf Italia and in 1998, CEO of Lubricants. In January 2002, Mr. Mosconi was appointed Senior Vice President, Strategy, Development, Research in the Refining-Marketing division. In 2007, he was named Vice President, Strategy & Business Intelligence at Total. He was appointed Senior Vice President, Refining-Base Chemicals Europe on January 1, 2012. He was appointed Senior Vice President, Refining and Chemicals for Middle East and Asia on September 1, 2014. He also sits on Total’s Management Committee. Mr. Mosconi, 58, is a graduate of Ecole Normale Supérieure and the Institut d’Etudes Politiques, both in Paris.

Peter Beekhuis, Regional Trading Head, Maersk Oil Trading Singapore

Peter Beekhuis

Peter is a native of New Zealand and a graduate of the University of Otago where he studied Geology and Finance. He began his career with Maersk Oil Trading in 2009 after spending almost 10 years in various roles in New Zealand and Denmark within the FMCG industry. At Maersk, Peter has looked after the Mediterranean, Russian and Northern European markets prior to taking over the trading activities on the Singapore desk in the middle of 2017.

Ali Nazar Al-Shatari, Deputy Director General, Oil Marketing Company (SOMO), Iraq; National Representative for OPEC, Iraq

Ali Nazar Al-Shatari

Ali Nazar Faeq Al-Shatari is the National Representative for Iraq at the Orgnaization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). In this role, he  monitors the world oil markets movements and evaluates its effect on the world economy, contributes in OPEC discussions in relation to the factors/issues that are affecting the oil balance (supply/demand) within the world oil markets as a basis for the most valuable suggestions and strategies for the member countries to adopt, and assesses OPEC research activities and gives suggestions on how to develop models to achieve better capturing and understanding on the markets’ behaviour. Currently, Ali is also the Deputy Director General of Oil Marketing Company (SOMO) since April 2017. Prior to that his other roles in SOMO include Director - Crude Oil and Gas Marketing, Head of Asia, Head of North and South America, Head of Far East and Head of LPG Imports.

Sanjiv Singh, Chairman, Indian Oil Corporation

Sanjiv Singh

Mr. Sanjiv Singh is Chairman, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. with effect from 1st June 2017. Concurrently, he is also Chairman of Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (CPCL) and Hindustan Urvarak and Rasayan Ltd. (HURL) , a joint venture company set up to revive the fertiliser plants at Gorakhpur, Sindri and Barauni. A chemical engineer from IIT-Roorkee, Mr. Sanjiv Singh joined IndianOil in 1981. He has served IndianOil for over 35 years, spearheading refinery operations as well as mega greenfield and brownfield projects in refining and petrochemicals. With extensive experience in the refining sector, Mr. Sanjiv Singh played a key role in the setting up, commissioning and stabilisation of two of IndianOil’s biggest greenfield refineries at Panipat and Paradip. The commissioning of IndianOil’s 11th refinery at Paradip in early 2016, with a capex of Rs. 34,555 crore, is his benchmark contribution to the Indian refining sector. Mr. Singh has also steered the successful implementation of the petrochemical projects of Paraxylene/PTA and Naphtha Cracker with downstream units at Panipat Refinery.

Doctor Wang Pei is currently the head of research and deputy general manager of Research and Strategy Department in Unipec, the trading arm of Sinopec and also the largest crude oil trading company globally. She has rich experience in oil market analysis and enjoys a very good reputation in this area. Based in Beijing office since July 2010, Doctor Wang Pei has been working as an analyst, mainly covering oil fundamentals and providing corporate strategy for Unipec and Sinopec. She also actively engages with market participants, including producers, refiners, end-users and traders to ensure her research is the most relevant to the industry. Wang Pei holds a PhD of Economics from the Chinese Academy of Social Science(CASS) in Beijing.

Zabidi Ahmad, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, PETRONAS Penapisan (Terengganu)

Zabidi Ahmad is the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of PETRONAS Penapisan (Terengganu) Sdn. Bhd., PETRONAS’ Refinery Complex in the east coast of Malaysia. He graduated with BSc. In Mechanical Engineering from the University of George Washington, USA. In his 25 years with PETRONAS, he was exposed to many facets of gas processing a& refinery operation i.e. procurement, area maintenance, plant commissioning and finally as plant manager prior to his appointment as MD/CEO of PETRONAs Penapisan (Terengganu) Sdn. Bhd. With his humble yet result driven character, he was built upon the foundation laid by previous leaders and continue to make PETRONAS Penapisan (Terengganu) Sdn. Bhd. among the best operating units within PETRONAS with specific focus on safety, operational excellence and continuous talent development.

Ardhy N. Mokobombang, Mega Project Refinery & Petrochemical Director, Pertamina

Ardhy N.Mokobombang is a career worker who mostly assigned to Pertamina in the processing sector. In 2015, when Pertamina designed the revitalization and construction of a new refinery, Ardhy served as Vice President (VP) of Strategic Planning, Business Development and Operational Risk (SPBD & OR) - Directorate of Pertamina Processing. Prior to being appointed as Director, a graduate of Chemical Engineering Institute of Technology Bandung was once served as Senior Vice President Refining Operation in the processing directorate.

Mr. Chansin Treenuchagron is currently the Chief Technology and Engineering Office at PTT Public Limited Company, as of October 2015. Prior to this role, he was the Senior Executive Vice President Corporate Strategy and Senior Executive Vice President Corporate Commercial & Marketing at PTT from 2013 to 2015. Mr. Chansin Treenuchagron is currently a Board Member at IRPC, as well as a Charmain at both PTTPL and PTTPM. He holds a Master’s Degree of Economic at Chulalongkorn University.

Venkatesh Pai is Head Margin Optimisation of the Refinery and Marketing Business at Reliance Industries. He leads a team responsible for crude, product optimisation strategies & risk mitigation thereof at Reliance’s 1.35 MM bbls/day mega Refinery and Petrochemical Complex in Jamnagar (WC) India. He joined Reliance Industries in 1998 and has been actively involved in the start-up and growth of its Refinery Business. Prior to this he worked with Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals (Now OMPL). His 23 years’ experience in the Downstream Oil industry covers Refinery Economics, Supply Chain Management, Investment Strategy, Margin Risk Management & Trading. Venkatesh has a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from NIT Karnataka and a Master’s in Energy Management from C.T. Bauer College of Business, Houston.

Kiyoshi Homma is the Director of the board and General Manager of Idemitsu Kosan’s Overseas Petroleum & Gas and Integrated Supply and Trading since July 2017, who has been heading Idemitsu global trading activities, including crude & products and chemical feedstock procurement and business development worldwide, in Asia-Pacific, Americas and Middle East. In his previous position, he was Executive Officer and General Manager of Idemitsu Supply and Logistics Department from 2013, during which time he oversaw the reorganization of the department to look after the development of overseas projects together with managing logistics for Japanese domestic supply. From 2010-14, Kiyoshi also played a central role in the restructuring of Idemitsu refinery operations against the backdrop of the Japanese Government’s introduction of “the Law Concerning Sophisticated Methods of Energy Supply Structures”. Over his more than 30 years career with Idemitsu since 1984, Kiyoshi has held key senior management roles in domestic retail and wholesale marketing as well as supply and logistics and trading at HQ in Tokyo, in addition to his overseas experience at Idemitsu Singapore based subsidiary from 1990 to 1994. A graduate of Rikkyo University(LL.B.), Kiyoshi’s interests include rugby, had lead Idemitsu rugby team for 6 years as a head coach, and reading and he is a keen golfer.

In this role as Chief Planning Officer he is responsible for economics and planning of entire Refining and Marketing business value chain encompassing crude selection, optimization of refinery operations, shipping/operations, product off-take, Marketing and Trading functions. Prior to this, Sreedhar performed the role of Head - EPS & IST (Economics Planning Scheduling & International Supply Trading) for the Refining and Marketing business of Essar Oil (UK) Limited, a subsidiary of Essar Energy, based in London. In this role, he was responsible both for EPS and IST functions of Refining and Marketing business of Stanlow Refinery (2nd largest refinery in UK). Sreedhar had joined Essar in March 2006, worked in various key corporate functions of Essar Oil, such as Head – Business Analytics and Optimization, Executive Assistant to MD & CEO of Essar Oil Limited , and he was closely involved in both operations and business side of the refinery value chain. Prior to this, Sreedhar had worked in the Technical services at Vadinar Refinery covering de-bottlenecking and expansion projects. Sreedhar is a graduate in Chemical Engineering with an experience of 25 years in some of the large and world scale Refinery/Petrochemical businesses. Sreedhar has previously worked with Reliance Industries Limited, SABIC of Saudi Arabia, Ion Exchange India Limited and Jubilant Organosys Limited.

Adi Imsirovic, Global Head, Oil & Products, Gazprom Marketing & Trading

Adi Imsirovic is a head of oil trading at Gazprom Marketing & Trading in London. He has worked both in London and Singapore, where he spent over 13 years. Adi is a Fulbright scholar and studied at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Harvard. He also part time lectures in Energy Economics and Environmental and Resource Economics at Surrey University, England.

Giacomo Rispoli holds a degree in Chemical Engineering. He joined Eni Refining & Marketing Division in 1986, after spending five years working as a process engineer. Currently, he is the EVP of Portfolio Management & Supply and Licensing. From 2014 to May 2015, he was EVP of Industrial Project Initiatives and Asset Portfolio Development. He was also responsible of biofuels development projects, as the conversion of the Venice petroleum refinery into Green Refinery, which started up the biofuels production on May 2014. From 2006 to 2010, as R&D Director he led the development of the EST and other innovative technologies. From 2004 to 2006, he was the President and CEO of the Eni Gela Refinery (Sicily) and from 2001 to 2004, he was the Venice Refinery Manager.

Kazuo Yajima, Division General Manager of Japan Planning Division, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.; former Alliance Global Director, EV and HEV Engineering Division, Renault-Nissan Alliance

Mr. Kazuo Yajima is Division General Manager of Japan Planning Division of Nissan Motor, Co. Ltd. In this position, he is responsible for corporate planning for the business in Japan. Prior to this position, he led EV and HEV Engineering Division as Alliance Global Director and contributed to the great success of 100% electric vehicle LEAF and Note e-POWER. Mr. Yajima graduated with a bachelor's degree from Tohoku University in 1988, after which he joined its faculty. David Sineke is Engen Petroleum Limited, a leading refining and marketing company in South Africa, Enterprise Risk Manager, since April 2017. Prior to that position, David has been an oil industry Researcher and Analyst for 17 years with Engen. Prior to working for Engen, David worked for Chevron (South Africa) in the Corporate Planning Division and spent some time both at former Chevron’s Dallas HQ and later Singapore HQ. David has covered the oil industry globally and on the African continent and has built an extensive network within the ARA (African Refiners Association) of which his company was a founder-member in 2006, Cape Town. He has researched and presented insightful industry papers to various oil conferences, especially refining summits, in Africa and Europe. Prior to joining the oil industry, David worked in the Armament, Retail and Manufacturing industries in South Africa. David has won awards for “best African Downstream research” from both ARA and the former Global Pacific and Partners. David’s passion is the “African Downstream”.

Warren Russell, CFA, is a New-York based member of the commodities research team and contributes to the bank’s energy market views. Mr. Russell joined Barclays in 2013 from the CME Group, where he covered the metals markets for two years. Prior to the CME Group, Mr. Russell worked for Bunge Global Agribusiness where he researched the sugar markets. He holds a B.S. from Cornell University.

The WEO is recognised as one of the world’s most authoritative sources for long-term strategic analysis of energy trends. Stefano Grasso, General Manager – Singapore, Eni Trading & Shipping

Stefano Grasso

Stefano Grasso is the General Manager of eni Trading & Shipping Singapore, the London-based company in charge of commodity trading for Eni. The company handles trading on all Eni flows of oil, products, gas, power and emissions; shipping and logistics; and hedging for eni business units. Stefano originally was hired in Eni Trading & Shipping in 2011. Between 2011 and 2016, he covered roles in Business Development and Origination with responsibility for the Houston, London, Moscow and Singapore offices. Prior to joining eni in 2011, Stefano was a consultant at McKinsey & Co. where he worked on several energy related engagements.

Calvin Lee, Editorial Director - Asia & Middle East Markets, S&P Global Platts

Calvin Lee

Calvin is Editorial Director, Asia & Middle East oil markets for S&P Global Platts, managing the market reporting team that assesses crude oil, refined products and Platts Forward Curve prices across the region. Calvin joined Platts in October 2005, and covered naphtha and fuel oil markets in depth before taking on the role of team leader for gasoline, naphtha, crude oil and LPG in 2007. In June 2009, Calvin was promoted to be Managing Editor to manage the coverage of Asia Pacific and Middle Eastern crude oil and light distillate products. Calvin began to serve as Senior Writer, China in October 2010 and was responsible for overseeing Platts' coverage of all energy news across China market. In February 2012, Calvin joined the Price Group as senior pricing analyst, before taking a leadership role to lead and coordinate the execution of Asian methodology changes and assist in the introduction of new price assessments in Asia. In June, Calvin rejoined the oil team as Associate Editorial Director, Asia & Middle East oil markets, managing the crude, fuel oil, bunker and Platts Forward Curve markets coverage, and was promoted to Editorial Director eight months later.

Sammy Six is a Senior Oil Market Analyst specializing in oil markets East of Suez, with a focus on the Middle East and OPEC. Before joining S&P Global Platts in October 2016 in Singapore, he worked as a researcher with the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC) in Riyadh and the Clingendael International Energy Programme (CIEP) in The Hague. Gurdeep Singh is a senior specialist at Platts working on methodology development and price assessments in Asia and the Middle East. Over the past year, Gurdeep has been closely involved in the launch of several new Middle East-focused price assessments by Platts. Gurdeep has spent the last 12 years covering the energy industry and markets as a journalist at Platts, Dow Jones Newswires/The Wall Street Journal and Reuters in Singapore and India.
