US data: Ethanol exports fall 24.51% on month in April: Census Bureau

The US exported 614.7 million liters (162.27 million gallons) of ethanol in April, 86% more than in April 2017, but down 24.51% month on month, US Census Bureau data showed Wednesday.

Brazil was the largest buyer of fuel-grade ethanol in April, importing 230.78 million liters (60.9 million gallons) after taking 363.15 million liters in March.

Canada appeared in the second spot for the second straight month. Canada imported 104.87 million liters (27.69 million gallons) of fuel-grade ethanol from the US in April, up from 93 million liters in March, the data show.

Canada is a consistent source of demand for US ethanol, frequently topping the list of buyers of US ethanol.

Oman was the third heaviest importer of US ethanol in April, importing 47.84 million liters (12.63 million gallons), up from 13.51 million liters in March.

In 2018, S&P Global Platts Analytics forecasts US fuel ethanol exports will total 5.125 billion liters, up 4% from 2017.
