E10 consumption in the first four months of 2018 totaled 1.331 million cu m, an increase of 13.2% year on year and up 26.8% from the 2016 period.

A more competitive price at the pump due to tax breaks, an increasing number of vehicles compatible with E10 due to the renewal of the car fleet and a growing availability of service stations selling E10 are the main factors explaining the growth of the E10 market in France.

The E10 market share for the January-April period was 42.1%, an increase from 38.6% at the same point last year. Consumption of E85 was also in a sharp upward trend, by 31.6% year on year to 45,715 cu m. Gasoline demand increased 3.9% on the year to reach 3.162 million cu m.

Sales of gasoline in France have been slowly gaining market share from diesel. In the first four months of 2018, the gasoline market share was 19.6%, up from 18.9% at the same time last year and 18.2% in 2016.
