New York's Indian Point-3 reactor returns to 100% after week-long shutdown

Washington (Platts)--10 Nov 2017 556 pm EST/2256 GMT

Entergy's 1,080-MW Indian Point-3 nuclear reactor in Buchanan, New York, returned to 100% of capacity "Friday afternoon," following a November 3 automatic shutdown due to an issue with the unit's electrical generator, plant spokesman Jerry Nappi said.

The unit synchronized with the electricity grid around 5:30 pm EST (1730 GMT) Thursday, Nappi said in an email earlier Friday.

Indian Point-3 was operating at 71% of capacity early Friday and at 2% Thursday, according to the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission's daily reactor status reports.

The adjacent 1,065-MW Indian Point-2 reactor has continued to operate at 100% of capacity, according to NRC reactor reports.
