Turkey's BOTAS signs 1.5 million mt/year LNG deal with Qatargas

London (Platts)--20 Sep 2017 740 am EDT/1140 GMT

Qatargas has signed a three-year deal with Turkish state-owned energy company BOTAS, for 1.5 million mt/year of LNG, with deliveries scheduled to begin from October 1, Qatargas said in a statement Wednesday.

The statement also said that the cargoes will be produced from Qatargas Train 2, and will be delivered aboard Q-Flex vessels, with flexibility to discharge at either the Egegaz LNG terminal at Aliaga, the Marmara LNG terminal or the the Etki FSRU terminal.

In addition to Qatar, Turkey currently has two active long-term LNG contracts. Nigeria LNG Trains 1 and 2 are exporting around 1 million mt/year to the country, while Algeria's Sonatrach has a 3 million mt/year contract delivering to BOTAS.

With its two onshore terminals and one FSRU, Turkey has an import capacity of 14.50 million mt/year.
