UK's Elgin-Franklin natural gas field cuts production

London (Platts)--7 Dec 2017 823 am EST/1323 GMT

Natural gas production at the UK's Elgin-Franklin field was reduced Thursday morning, operator Total said in a message on the REMIT energy portal.

  • Output down 4 mil cu m from normal levels
  • Duration and impact uncertain: Total

Gas export from the field was down from normal levels due to a restriction on the oil export route for Elgin Franklin, according to the announcement.

Available capacity fell to 6 million cu m/d, down 4 million cu m/d from normal levels of 10 million cu m/d.

Total said the outage was expected to last until 4 pm Thursday, although the company added that: "The duration and impact of the field unavailability is uncertain at the moment," and updates are expected.

UK gas production nominations were 108 million cu m/d, 6 million cu m lower on the day due to the reduced output, according to Platts Analytics' Eclipse Energy.
