White House chaos: A Trump adviser on oil policy, energy dominance and Twitter diplomacy

February 20, 2018 (21:41 mins)

Meghan Gordon and Brian Scheid

It was chaos in the White House when George David Banks arrived at the White House, he tells Platts Capitol Crude. Banks, who stepped down as White House Special Assistant at the National Economic Council and National Security Council last week, talks Trump’s domestic energy policy, including the potential for reform of the Renewable Fuel Standard, the meaning behind energy “dominance” and the administration’s efforts to erase President Obama’s environmental legacy.

Banks also talks about his year in the White House, what it’s like working for a president who tweets as much as Trump and the energy policy goals he never got to. Banks left his White House position last week after he was denied a permanent security clearance due to past marijuana use. This is the second in a two-part podcast.

Part one -- How is Trump administration crafting sanctions so as not to adversely impact US refiners?
