Double, double oil and trouble; fire burn and caldron bubble

October 09, 2017 (18:52 mins)

It is October, the month of Halloween, and in this edition of the S&P Global Platts OPEC Outlook podcast, senior writer Herman Wang takes a look at some geopolitical frights involving OPEC members that could spook the oil market this month -- the expected decision by US President Donald Trump to certify that Iran is not complying with the nuclear deal, upcoming Venezuela local elections that could also trigger some oil-related US sanctions, and the recent Kurdistan independence referendum that has Turkey threatening to cut off Kurdish oil exports.

And from the Platts Asia Pacific Petroleum Conference {#PlattsAPPEC) in Singapore, it is clear that Asia is the demand battleground, and oil producers from OPEC were putting their best foot forward before an audience of oil-thirsty refiners and traders. Herman talks with Mriganka Jaipuriyar, Platts’ associate editorial director for Asia & Middle East from Singapore on how that battle is shaking out.
