Steel mill margins in Asia and China have consolidated over the past two months, as prices stabilized at higher levels than prior the spring surge.

Platts MVS China Domestic Steel Mill Margins in the week ending August 26 reached new highs since May, while implied export prices also firmed. Platts senior editor for steel raw materials and metals analysis, Hector Forster, talks to Platts MVS senior analyst Miriam Falk about recent events and how the surge in coking coal prices may affect mill margins in China, with an overview of trends in Turkey and the US.
