Post-IP Week: Houdini himself would struggle to escape this supply-driven oil bear market

With Joel Hanley

February 16, 2016 14:10:00 EST (3:31)

This week oil market participants find themselves back at their desks, looking back on a very productive International Petroleum Week, the annual week of industry meetings and parties held in London. As ever, the week began with the Platts London Oil Forum, a firm fixture in most oil diaries.

Many of the factors discussed at IP Week were not about where the oil demand will come from, but more on concerns about oversupply, as Iran comes back into western markets, and tight oil in the US continues to prove resilient to lower prices. Platts editorial director for European & African oil, Joel Hanley, gives us his key takeaways from the event.
