Platts proposes to move its Americas oil, shipping MOC timestamps

Platts is proposing to move its Americas oil and shipping Market On Close time to 2:30 pm Eastern Time after months of gathering feedback in a formal consultation with the industry. Platts heard from well over 100 individuals representing more than 70 companies across the industry throughout the feedback process, as well as analyzed market liquidity during different times of the day.


As part of the change, Platts proposes to reflect NYMEX futures settlements in Americas assessments and proposes to launch changes July 1, 2016. Jonty Rushforth, global editorial director, oil and shipping price group, and Richard Swann, director of US oil markets, detail the proposal.
